I am so crazy thrilled to be photographing this adorable couples wedding coming up in June. Hands down one of the most supportive and sweetest couples I’ve had the honor of working with. They are such a great match for each other and I think it really shows – I mean look at their smiles! – they smile almost exactly the same. For their engagement photos we started at their house with their dog children then went to some old haunts around the waterfront and downtown Portland.

DIY Lace Necklace How-to Tutorial

I love wedding projects! Here is my DIY tutorial on a simple lace wedding necklace, choose a colored lace if you have a not-so-bridal occasion. This necklace is the one created for our Winter Inspiration photo shoot which was featured on the Style Me Pretty wedding blog.

1. Your supplies: scissors, lace (can be found at fabric store, usually at a bridal counter), thin necklace chain, thin jump rings (needs to just fit through your chain), wire cutters, pliers, needle and thread, jewelry clasp.

2. Cut fun shapes out of the lace and spread them out.

3. Play! Make different combinations to see what looks good. You can just lay it on the chain to help visualize.

4. Sew any pieces together to make your new shapes.

5. With your pliers, open the jump ring, put one end through your chain, the other end through your lace. Attach one side, put the chain around your neck holding up the necklace to see how long you’d like it. Cut the chain to desired length using the wire cutters. Once both sides are attached you can just find your center, and cut the chain.

6. Attach your jewelry clasp and your done! ooohh…aaahh.

Anthea + Ian: DIY Wedding Details Galore

Ian is from Chile and Anthea is from Greece so this wedding had love in many different languages. They had so many amazing DIY wedding details – those napkins, invitations, and menus are hand screen printed by Ian and Anthea, the wood farm tables were built for the event, the cut raw wood table numbers and cake stands, and the vintage furniture vignettes were all drool worthy. The wedding was real celebration of family, feast, and marriage, and it took place at a longtime family friend’s farm in Neskowin, Oregon. I shot this wedding with the lovely Erica Ann Photography and Fine Art.

Baby Maggie: Candid Family Photography Portland OR

Ahh babies. I don’t advertise much that I’m a family photographer but I’m always excited when someone asks me to do a session. I recently had a baby myself so now of course I’m inclined to do more family photography. My approach is the same candid style that I do for my weddings blended with fun unique portraits. These photos are from a mini session with baby Maggie – the baby with hair that Lady Gaga would go goo-goo-gaa-gaa over.

Kristin + Zak: Panorama Lodge Wedding

Kristin and Zak had a hot summer wedding in such a cool and unexpected place – The Panorama Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Hood River. It was a little crazy with it’s animal skulls, trailers and general eclectic decor (junk!), but it was unexpected fun and really added to the laid back vibe the couple was going for. Night fell in Hood River and you could see the summer forest fires burning on mountains in the distance. Majestic, fiery, quiet, and natural – just like Kristin and Zak. You can really see the love burning in these ceremony photos, it’s rather moving if you ask me…
